Sunday 9th October - New River 'Whitewebbs Loop' - circular route via Myddelton House gardens - led by Peter Baker.
This is one of the sections of the old course, and will include the recently-restored cast-iron 'Flash' which carried the New River over the Cuffley Brook. Peter Baker has again kindly agreed to lead this walk. Full details (where to meet, route, lunch, description) are here: NR Walk Whitewebbs.
Recent Event - Evening Talk:
Friday 21st October 2016 - 'London's New River - neither new nor a river!' - A presentation by John Polley.
John will explain how & why the New River was built and will take us on a journey downstream from its source near Hertford, to New River Head in Islington. (Please click for more details: John Polley talk 21-10-2016).

Previous walks this year:
Sunday 2nd October - The New River in Haringey.
A short walk of about 2 hours starting at Finsbury Park and walking to Palmers Green. Meet at 2 pm where Green Lanes crosses the New River (N4 1DA) 250 m up the hill from Harringay Green Lanes Station towards Manor House Tube. We will follow the New River through the middle of Haringey, mainly in green spaces, and across the North Circular to Palmers Green. The history of the New River and its route alterations in Haringey, and of some of the buildings of the New River, will be described. About 4.5 miles. Return by train or bus. Leader: Bob Hare. One of the 20 walks of the Haringey Walking Weekend organised by the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum and the Haringey Federation of Residents Associations.
Sunday 18th September - 'Fleet Footsteps' - from the source of the River Fleet - Parliament Hill to the River Thames.
We are sorry that our walk planned for Sunday 14th August ('Lea Valley Walk' - from the source of the River Lea - Leagrave to Harpenden - has had to be cancelled.
Sunday 26th June - New River - Enfield Town to New River Head.
Start 10am at the Crown and Horseshoes pub beside the New River in Enfield (Horseshoe Ln, EN2 6PZ). Nearest rail stations Enfield Chase (connections include Finsbury Park and Moorgate) or Enfield Town (connections include Liverpool Street).

Sunday 8th May - Source to Rye House and tour of New River Brewery
Short walk (7 mile approx) from the source at Hertford to Rye House, with a tour of the New River Brewery.
The walk and tour are free, but if you would like to join us for lunch at the Brewery, there is a charge of £5 payable in advance. See walk notes for details.
